Other stuff I did in Turkey

As many of you may know, I have been working on an art director internship at McCann Istanbul. As some of you may know, the advertising industry and interning can be unpredictable when it comes to work loads. One week you have so much work, you wonder how you will be able to finish on time; another week you have so little work, you wonder why you are there.

Well, I didn't want to sit and stare at the walls when it was slow, but I wanted some kind of challenge, so I found a great Photoshop contest site that kept me busy when the agency was slow. I thought I would share some of my entries in one place. Here.

I'm not going to go into the details of Photoshop contests and how they work, but I played in two different kinds of contests: theme and source image. The theme contests give you a theme and you have to create an interpretation in Photoshop. The source image contests give you a source image and you are supposed to create a new work based on that source image.

I make all of these images in Photoshop using other images and usually a lot of hand done brush work. As a creative, I completely respect photographers and only use my own photographs or stock photography with permission when need be.

My first source image contest entry won second place! I used several outside stock images of fire, ice, and peeling paint. There are so many Photoshop techniques going on here, each glass was practically its own project.

I titled my interpretation "Pick Your Poison"

I won first place in the second source image contest I entered! The only outside source I used was a picture of a cat yawning, so I could steal it's teeth. Otherwise, it's all brush work and manipulation.

I titled my interpretation "Don't Feed The Plants"

I placed fifth in the third contest I entered out of many entries. This was a theme contest based on a fantasy dress. I created the dress out of several stock lizard photos, a photo of a mannequin, and of course, a lot of brush work and manipulation.

I currently have another picture in a contest, but don't want to give my identity away if anyone sees this blog who is a part of PST (now pxleyes). I'll let you know how that one goes.

Also, if you happen to like what you see and need photo manipulation work, let me know!

Um, awesome.

Girl Adaptation

A lot of women might probably be happy with this adaptation. Not only would it be helpful with getting ready in the morning, but think of all the women who are trying to raise children, have a successful career, have a loving relationship, and indulge in hobbies, friends, and even some sleep.

I first sketched the work on paper with pencil (below), scanned it, then I drew it into vector shapes in Illustrator, then I worked it in Photoshop with a lot of brush work, dodge, and burn.

A girl's gotta get by somehow.

Adapt

A girl's gotta get everything done somehow.
